Kent Town House Extension

With a brief which demanded a low-cost design, the extension removed the need for major demolitions and structural support, the result was a new kitchen, living and dining room alongside a unique garden.

The Challenge

Townhouses can be difficult to approach when considering rear extension and dormer design. Their stepped shape, age and construction often point towards large amounts of demolition. Structural design involving steels can cause the project to become logistically difficult and expensive.

But it doesn't have to be that way...

Using a lightweight timber frame design, separate from the main building, maintaining the existing openings and repurposing the remaining square plot, the extension can be low cost, full of space and a beautiful place to live.
